Hernando Steel Match PDF Print E-mail

When: first Saturday of the month of the month
Where: Hernando Sportsmans Club

For the astounding number of shooters who showed up last Saturday to shoot steel, we applaud your tenacity.  There were over 40 shooters shooting more that 70 guns.  We now hope to make sure that you never have to brave the cold at least for that long again.  The Steel match has gained such popularity that it is time to make some changes to speed things up.  SO, here’s what we propose for the coming months.

1.     We will set up the steel in the separate action shooting bays at the north end of the range.
This should cut off substantial time waiting for the entire line to clear so we can paint.
2.     When we reach 32 shooters or more we will institute the TWO RELAY rule.  Everyone will shoot one gun of their choice in the first relay completing all four stages.  Those shooters wishing to shoot a second gun will begin a second relay starting immediately after the first relay completes their fourth stage.

We have found that a squad of 7 to 10 shooters can complete all four stages by 11:30 to 12:00.  A second relay would then finish before 2:00PM. The one gun shooters would be home for the Florida game kick off and the two gun shooters should make the kick off for the west coast game.
As we progress with this program we will be open to improvements.  There was much discussion surrounding this decision, and I was the one who made the decision to give this scenario a try. (Don’t blame Gregg or Steve).

We look forward to seeing all of you next month.  The outstanding support that has been shown for all our shooting activities is really appreciated by those of us who volunteer to put them on.  Remember that all the matches are a volunteer effort and any help is greatly appreciated.

See you there.
